First Origami

Today we did our first attempt at origami.  I cut paper into 6 inch x 6 inch squares.  I had the kids draw random designs on one side.  The directions for origami assume that the two sides of the paper are different so you are able to tell which way the paper is supposed to be when folding. We started with the cup.  Directions can be found at:

Next we tried the butterfly.  The kids really liked how these came out. I saw this on Pinterest and loved it.

Mickey Head Shirt

I printed out some mickey head shapes. I taped them on a tshirt board and then covered with saran wrap. I pulled the shirt, mens Hanes XL, over the board. I traced over the shapes with Elmers Gel Glue. I let dry for 24 hours.

** MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES FOR THE NEXT PART ** (see above)
Then I mixed up some Tulip dye in turquoise and put the shirt in it for 15 minutes. I rinsed it, then put it in the washing machine and dryer.

The finished product :)

Tink Tshirt

I used a pumpkin stencil from Family Magazine and an xacto knife to cut out the freezer paper template. I then ironed it on a mens hanes XL tshirt.

I used tshirt paint in yellow and a sponge brush, working from the center outward.

After I finished the yelow paint, I used Simply Spray in neon green and spayed a quick layer over. Then I let it dry.

After it was dry, I pealed off the freezer paper.

The finished product :)
